We all love dogs right? Of course we do! That's why you're here!
We here at Pawtion also ADORE our furry-friends, which is why we've put together another blog!
This time we're writing about some of history's most famous dogs, and why they're so well known!
1. Pickles
First up we have Pickles! Not only did Pickles have an amazing name, he won England the World Cup! Just months before the 1966 World Cup was due to begin in England, the trophy went missing! However just 7 days later, it was found wrapped in newspaper lying by the front wheel of a car in South London, by the four-year-old Pickles, while taking a walk with his owner David Corbett! In 2006 Pickles' story was even made into an ITV drama - Pickles: The Dog Who Won The World Cup.
2. Hachikō
Next up we have Hachikō, a Japanese Akita who is known worldwide for his unwavering loyalty. His owner Hidesaburō Ueno would meet Hachikō everyday after work at Shibuya Station in Tokyo, until Ueno suddenly died in 1925, and didn't meet Hachikō at the station. Each day, for the next nine years, nine months and fifteen days, Hachikō awaited Ueno's return, appearing precisely when the train was due at the station. He became so well known locals would bring him treats and food. Hachikō even has a statue dedicated to him in Tokyo!
3. Doug The Pug
As our marquee product - the Fluff Trough - is great for flat-faced breeds, we know ALL about Doug The Pug! Everyone reading this will have heard of Doug, which just shows how popular this adorable little guy is! He has amassed over 13 MILLION followers across various social channels, and it's only growing! Shakira, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber have all met with Doug, and he even won People's Choice 'Animal Star of the Year' in 2019 and 2020!
4. Cheddar
If you've ever watched Brooklyn 99, you'll know how iconic Cheddar the corgi is! Cheddar makes multiple cameos throughout the series, and his owner Captain Raymond Holt has LOADS of fantastic nicknames for him, including a 'Thicc King' and 'My Fluffy Boy'!
5. Bobbie the Wonder Dog
Finally, we have a story about Bobbie the Wonder Dog! You're probably wondering what made this collie so special, well let us tell you! Bobbie and his family were on holiday in Indiana in 1924, when he was attacked by 3 other dogs so ran away. His family couldn't find him anywhere so left to go home all the way back to Oregon, some 2500 miles away. Amazingly 6 months later Bobbie turned up back at his family home! He travelled across plains, deserts, and mountains in the winter to return home, an average of approximately 14 miles per day!
