Encouraging Good Behaviour in Your Puppy
If you've just become a dog owner for the first time congrats! We bet you're SO EXCITED!
With good reason of course, but you may be skeptical about how your puppy will behave in their new surroundings, but fear not!
We here at Pawtion are back with another blog, all about how to encourage good behaviour in your puppy!

Affection
Puppies are way more instinctive than we ever give them credit for, and if you give them affection after a a positive action - such as going outside to the toilet - they'll pick it up properly in no time! Things such as belly rubs, strokes and loving words all go a long way to encourage positive behaviour in your pup!

Adventure
Another way to show your puppy they're doing a great job is to take them on a trip to their favourite place! Whether it be the park, the pet store or even to meet up with another pup, taking your furry friend out while telling them how much of a good dog they are is a sure-fire way to ensure positive behaviour!

Commands
One pivotal way to see if your dog has been listening to you is if they respond to your command at the first time of asking! Be sure to reward your pup with a treat or head pats if they respond to you straight away!

Treats
This may seem like an obvious one, but having treats on hand ready to reward your dog for their good behaviour can go a long way to help it become permanent! As we all know dogs will do ANYTHING for a treat, which makes them an ideal tool for encouraging good behaviour! Behave well, get a treat!

Games
Fun activities such as tug of war and fetch can be amazing techniques to help encourage positive behaviour. For example, if your pup has been behaving well all day, reward them with a LONNNNNNNG game of fetch, to show how appreciative you are of them!

Spend Time Together
Another obvious one here, but dogs respond better when they feel loved and cared for. Make sure you spend plenty of time together and constantly show them love and it'll definitely resonate with them, leading to a better behaved pup!
