We all know the summer months are just around the corner, and we bet you're as excited as we are to finally see some sun!
While we should look forward to the heat, as dog owners we have to be VERY careful with our pups this summer.
We know when we're too hot to take shelter, but that same logic isn't always applied by our dogs and they can find themselves overheated.
Here are some ways to keep your dog safe this summer.
Keeping your Dog Safe this Summer
Keep them Hydrated
Always make sure your dog has access to fresh water throughout the summer! If you're planning on a long walk, why not grab a portable dog water bottle to keep them content! A hydrated pup is a happy pup!
Get a Pool
Don't Leave them in a Car
You might have seen a dog being left in the car while their owner pops to the shops - but please DON'T do this, especially in the hot weather. Even with a window left open cars heat up very quickly! Did you know in the United States many states have laws in place to prevent people leaving dogs in cars on hot days?
Plan your Walks
Grooming
During the warm weather, always be on the lookout for the state of your dogs coat, as if there are knots they can trap heat which can lead to your dog overheating! Regular grooming will help combat this!
